Surrounding area
From Alghero to Porto Torres, thiry kilometres apart, the beautiful countryside of Nurra is located and after another twenty five kilometers the town of STINTINO. Along the coastal road, that from Stintino goes toward Cape Falcone in front of Asinara Island, a fascinating panorama of Rada di Fornelli. Between Asinara and the promontory is l'Isola Piana and a tiny island on which the Saracen Towers stands of Pelosa facing the beach – having the same name – and is a rarity of this area with its magnificent colours. Pelosa beach has been recently qualified as the most ten beautiful beaches in the world. On the promontory of Cape Falcone, within walking distance, another tower is found called the tower of Falcone, and from the terrace a wonderful panorama of the west coast of Cape Caccia.
Impressive are also the old tuna nets of Saline and the old harbour of fishermen where original boats with triangular canvases (vela Latina) are admired. These traditional boats have become popular in these days for a nostalgic come back and also for a healthy spirit of competitiveness. In Stintino an important and famous competition takes place during the season – the most important among all historical regattas with famous ship owners. It is the place to admire them at sea.
