Program 1° day
Stintino - Arrival in Hotel and welcome drink 12.00
In the afternoon we advise walks or bicycle rides along the coastal area. Bikes will be given free of charge from the Hotel. From Stintino you can go towards Cape Falcone right in front of the Asinara Island . There you shall find a beautiful panoramic view of Rada di Fornelli. Between Asinara and the promontory you will see two islands: Piana Island is a tiny island on which the Pelosa Tower stands (Saracen) and faces the Pelosa beach. An area of ultimate beauty for its beautiful colors.
Pelosa beach has been recently classified among the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world clicked on the web. On the promontory of Cape Falcone - walkable - you will find another tower, the Flacone tower and from this terrace you can admire the attractive panorama of the west coast all the way to Cape Caccia.
Return to Hotel and drink offered by the management – bed and breakfast.
Departure at 10: am from Stintino with the Gabbiano motor vessel and return at 4:30 pm.
During the long ride from Fornelli to Cala D’Oliva, north extremity, you will loose yourself in this incontaminated nature, where you can see the famous white donkey, wild boars, horses, wild goats and “Mouflons”. Different stops shall be made in order to admire the most interesting historical and natural sites; a recovery area for sea turtles, the maximum security prison of Fornelli, the panoramic viewpoint of Cala Sant’Andrea, the Ornithological Center of Tumbarino, Punta Sa Nave where the “centaur horrida” grows – endemic species of the Asinara Island and of Sardinia, the austrian-hungarian charnel house, the ramification of Cala Reale, the museum of the sea.
* Excursion to the National Park of Asinara is on appointment at the extra cost of € 45.00 per person and suitable weather conditions.
A valid alternative is to visit BOSA city that can be reached along the coastal road oncoming Alghero – This area offers a splendid scenario between sea and rough mountains - a beautiful peak view of the sea.
Dominated by the Malaspina Castle, built in early 1112 and which today remain the surrounding walls, the Nostra Signora di Regnos Altos Church and the towers controlling the Bosa town extends itself – with its pastel- colored houses – on the right shore of the Temo river, the only one navigable in Sardinia, while on the left shore rises the ex Cathedral of San Pietro, one of the most interesting roman-sardinian historical works. The origin of the city goes back to the Phoenician period with its unquestionable appeal, with its 800 century buildings for tanneries of Sas Conzas that reflect on the calm waters of the river and the antique area of Sas Costas surrounded by tiny streets and stairways. A very interesting and evocative excursion is that on the Green Train (Trenino Verde) from Bosa to Macomer coasting the beach of Pedras Nieddas (Black Stones).
Rich breakfast buffet - check-out from Hotel. Return of hired car to Alghero airport
Depending on your flight schedule, it is a “must” to visit the city of Alghero. This city, conquered by the Normans, is still full of the architectural, cultural and linguistic features – typically catalan of that time, making the city extremely fascinating. Walking through the characteristic streets of the downtown area you can admire the typical gothic forms of the private palaces, while along the seaside you will find 500 century towers and bastions that have been built to fortify the harbour works. Another “must” is a visit to the Church and Cloister of San Francesco, the Santa Maria Cathedral, and the San Michele Church with its dome covered in polychrome ceramics and the Misericordia Church.
Not far from the airport you shall find the Estates of Sella & Mosca (phone 079997700) – wine house founded in 1899, that hosts the historical museum and is part of the guided tours to the cantines and the winery. The museum includes an archaeological section , with self-explanatory panels that illustrate the history of the close-by necropolis of Anghelu Ruiu (3500-1800 b.c. approx). The walls of some of the domus de janas are decorated with fake doors, columns, roof tiles and taurine- form horns in order to represent The God of Bull that protected the sleep of the dead.
In the package the following is not included : fuel for car and all that is not explicity specified.
